SPARSITY: drawings from the road
A new exhibit by Steve Fasan
These drawings are departure from my usual practice of photography-based work. They find connection and resonance with the visually sparse, Australian landscape.
The outback landscape and its contradictions have been a formidable preoccupation and inspirational source for my artmaking over the last few years.
These are simple, economic drawings of roadside structures observed while driving through the Great central Road, The Pilbara, Cape York and The Kimberley.
I do not know what they mean. Ergo they have no meaning. they are simply what they are. make of them what you will.
